Service Descriptions

These descriptions document the committees, working groups, and other roles through which Friends carry the work of IMYM. They include service that is active now, areas currently under discernment, and committees and roles from earlier periods in IMYM’s life. Together, they offer both a practical guide to current service and a record of how IMYM’s organizational life has developed over time.

Friends are encouraged to reflect on these service descriptions with their own interests, gifts, and leadings in mind, and to consider the many ways they might take part in the life and work of the yearly meeting. Visit Get Involved to join us in service to IMYM.

Appointments to volunteer service come through several parts of the yearly meeting structure. Regional Meetings make some appointments, Coordinating Committee and Gathering Committee make others, and the Nominating Committee brings forward nominations for many of the remaining roles. All volunteer appointments or nominations are brought to the IMYM body for approval or confirmation at a business meeting.
